Modern History
From the Tablets of History, passed down through elders in Mount Krozloy:
The Interim
And so it came to past that the Golden Age of the Il'khan had ended, and many prophecies of the Il'khan had been lost. There were many attempts by Chieftains to unite the clans and restore glory, but each of them failed. It was at this time that a Horc chieftain named Irec assumed the Il'khan and renamed the position to High-Chieftain, so that he might exert his authority forcibly over all other tribes and be able to punish those who were not of his tribe. He had the Il'khan Crown hidden far into the mountains
The Golden Age of the Il'khan had become forgotten, its kingship disbanded, and an age known as the Interim had become. There was a great void of importance and greatness amoung the Il'khan in this era, and is merely recorded here to connect the ancient and modern times.
The Finding and Naming of the Mountain
When Krozloy first gazed upon the mountain that was to take his name, the as
yet unnamed protector of the Horcs shone his light down upon the Mountain.
Some years ago, an ambitious Horc explorer ventured North into the Barren Peaks from his tribe's lands, just South of the Barren Peaks on the Forgotten Woods. Here the Il'khan were constantly threatened by the local fey, and Krozloy the Wanderer demanded better for his people.
The explorer went north in search of the city Muurdish, but the ruins, being several thousand yeas old, were unable to be found. Krozloy did, however, find a valley and a grand mountain that could easily be fortified. After moving his tribe there, the chieftain named the mountain and valley after the explorer who found them, who had recently succumb to wounds gained from fighting off a group of goblin raiders, then common in there area.
The Honorable High-Chieftains
The elders speak of a time where there was a line of kings that led the Il'khan to glory, although not the glory that once was. The Horc peoples prospered and grew, and were quite stubborn in their commitment to the greatness of their people. Their deeds, however, were lost, as were their names, and the project to uncover these events and High-Chieftains' names is currently underway.
The Writings of Kruntak the Horned:
The Reign of the Mad Tyrant
Years after the time of the Honorable High-Chieftains, there were line of High-Chieftains that once again did little to advance the nation. This line of High-Chieftains lasted unto the present age. The following is the account of the last of the High-Chieftains in this line.

High-Chieftain Ogerajin the Mad, once Tyrant of the Il'khan,
now exile, fugitive, and suspected homosexual.
Some years ago, after the founding of Krozloy, an ambitious chieftain named Ogerajin, the leader of Darkbane, a once noble tribe that had turned corrupt of late, ascended to the position of high-chieftain through murder and lies. Once in this position, he dismissed the royal court as well as the Council of Warriors and the Council of Elders. He had each of the Il'khan who could challenge his position assassinated, and started wars to keep the blood in rotation fresh and the strength and ability of his troops a minimum. After several years of this, the Mad Tyrant began locking himself in the recesses of Mount Krozloy, coming out only rarely, and having no other ruler or a Horc that was strong enough to defeat him, the Il'khan nation went rulerless for months at a time. On the rare occasions he did come out, he forced the Il'khan into war, thus pushing them farther and farther into a weakened state. The dark age of the Il'khan was at hand.

Ogerajin, in his madness, worshipped make-believe Gods and built for them Shrines like this one.
The Coming of the Demon Child
Then in the world came a great shadow, and this shadow turned it's eyes onto the race of Man and Elf, attacking them and attempting to wipe them from the realms, and promising a similar fate to all others. The Il'khan, however, remained quiet, and did not draw attention unto themselves, hoping the evil would pass them over. This however, would later prove to be untrue.
The Exile of the Tyrant
A savior was nowhere to be found in all of the people until a young and determined warrior named Yanic challenged the Tyrant to a fight unto death. Ogerajin, now more insane than ever, ignored this challenge, claiming he still had great plans for the nation. At this time, the young warrior beseeched an Ascendant Goddess, Moonbeam, for help. She and Yanic confronted the Tyrant, Ogerajin, and with the help of an Inconnu named Indious, cast Ogerajin from the mountain, and sent him on his way. Yanic Perrault then announced that the tribes would join together and vote in the old way and elect a new King.

The Loss of the Mountain
As Mount Krozloy lay rulerless, and the tribes of Il'khan traveled to it so that they might unite under one common ruler, the Demon Child attacked our home. He burrowed out of the ground itself and came up from the bowels of the mountain. There were dragons and demons so great in number no Horc could count them, and the soldiers of the Il'khan, most of which had been outside, were forced to flee. The Demon Child's name will not be recorded here, but his foul deeds will. The forces of the Demon Child attacked from within the mountain, and killed many warriors. But the atrocity is still greater that the Demon Child sent in a great Amber Dragon to attack the elders and children inside the mountain. Their cries hurt my heart to this day. We have fled Krozloy and taken refuge within the forest, seeking to heal our wounds and bide our time until we may retake Krozloy from the Demon Child.

The Crowning of a New King
As the beloved mountain of the Il'khan lay in the hands of the Demon Child, the people looked for a ruler to replace Ogerajin the Mad. Only Yanic volunteered to hold the kingship on his shoulders, and his people joyously accepted him. His king would surely be a long and prosperous rule, for the people were on his side.
First Moves
King Yanic gave orders that the Il'khan rest and secure suitable shelter for themselves that would not be seen by the frequent dragon patrols. The King then called for volunteers to accompany him on a mission to heal Carnak Stryfeblade, who was badly wounded in defense of Krozloy. Several men stepped forward, but King Yanic chose to take with him Kruntak and four stout Il'khan warriors. He then ordered Lieutenant Grogen to go about securing the area, and King Yanic and his troop departed. I record their story here.
